50 On-Sale Menswear Items Actually Worth Buying Right Now

The discounted gear that you (probably) won't regret, plus, a not on-sale but very cool linen suit.

I’ll make this quick so you can get to shopping, but if you aren’t already being bombarded with the news via Instagram ads by now, then let me be the one to let you know that basically every online store in the world is currently doing some kind of summer sale and/or promotion. But this onslaught of DEALS presents its own set of challenges and potential wardrobe missteps.

Because if you’re like me, the dawn of sale season means the urge to buy, and more specifically, overbuy. At 32 years young, I’m a seasoned vet when it comes to falling victim to the tantalizing allure of discounted garms. I’ve done triple axel maneuvers in my mind to justify buying some shit I didn’t need simply because it was marked down to 70% off its original asking price. Thinking I had found some diamond in the rough, it turns out I had merely become a steward of what I would come to realize is really just wack-ass item, helping it make the transition from the stock room to the back of my closet, where it would never be seen again. The point is this: Sometimes, clothes are cheap for a reason!

Keeping my own mistakes in mind, below I’ve tried to avoid propping up any garments that might be placed in the “immediate regret” category and instead focused on some relatively classic-looking stuff that just happens to be on sale, which hopefully means you’ll get real world use out of them. (There are a couple showstoppers in the mix just to keep you on your toes, but you’ll probably notice that apparently—and I guess I kind of already knew this but it’s different when you see it all laid out—I’ve really got a thing for anything in brown, tan, green, or blue.)

I broke all of this down into categories—shirts, jackets, pants, shorts, shoes, and accessories—to make it easy. I also didn’t know where else to write about the new linen suit I got, so I included a brief aside about that, too. Enjoy.
