Exclusive: Canoe Club x Engineered Garments Pre-Order and Discount
Get your hands on the new collaboration before (and for less) than almost anyone else.
Over the last few years, Canoe Club has almost instinctually become one of the first digital destinations I head to when I’m trying to scope out the latest gear that some the best brands have to offer. Founded in 2017, the store carries a veritable smorgasbord of my favorite labels from Auralee to Orslow to Wythe—proof that in 2023, a shop doesn’t have to have its roots in the typical coastal fashion enclaves to be appeal to those who care (and care deeply) about style, quality, and craftsmanship. One of the good things about social media and the instantaneous word of mouth that comes with it is that anywhere in the world, including Canoe Club’s home of Boulder, Colorado, can become a haven for primo gear.
I mention all of this because this week, Canoe Club announced that it’s bringing their mountain-harnessed, globally-revered POV to a collaboration with legendary label Engineered Garments. Anyone who’s studied the sartorial arts knows that since ‘99 the brand has introduced countless folks to concepts like advanced layering through its inimitable takes on military and heritage garments. While some brands thrive by faithfully recreating the styles of old, for EG these references are more jumping off points that they then update with fresh fits, funky fabrics, and often enough pockets to stash a weekend’s worth of supplies. (Or, you know, an extra phone charger and your Elf bar.)
As such, the Canoe Club capsule consists of two never-before-seen riffs on a duo of classics: a work jacket and a pair of fatigue pants, which are made to EG’s elite standards in New York City. But make no mistake: whether you’re a die-hard Daiki Suzuki Stan or a newly-minted jawnz enthusiast simply wanting to upgrade a couple tried-and-true staples, both pieces are designed to effortlessly slot into your rotation.
For the “Club Jacket,” CC started by updating EG’s Driver Jacket pattern for a more 2023 boxy-fit vibe. Then they did it up in a new fabric in two colors and added a corduroy collar/cuffs as a light homage to English workwear. The fatigue pants also went under the knife and emerged with a revised fit as well as a drawstring at the waist/hems for added comfort/casualness. They’ve even got one of those bonus stash pockets I mentioned.
With the collection launching tomorrow, I briefly spoke to Canoe Club about the items they cooked up. We also spoke about what getting to work with Engineered Garments means for their journey of becoming not only the premiere menswear purveyor among the Rockies, but one of the best clothing retailers in the world, period. You can read all of that below.
But even better, Canoe Club hooked it up for subscribers of this website so that they can SHOP THE COLLECTION A FULL DAY EARLY, AND GET 10% OFF BY USING THE CODE LOCATED AT THE BOTTOM OF THE Q&A.
By the way, if you wanna know even more about how this partnership came to be, Canoe Club’s Chase Brown and Timothy Grindle broke it down in depth on their podcast “Customer Service.” You can also see the gear in action via this unboxing video.
