The $800 Spring Jacket That’s Sold Out Everywhere

Hey, it me, reporting live from light jacket season—that glorious, short-lived weather sweet spot that comes but twice a year here on the East Coast. Stylistically what this means is that from now until roughly a month from now, each day presents a golden opportunity to put one’s best windbreakers, trucker jackets, Harringtons, and more on full display as the centerpiece of a spring fit. Luckily for me, this week I acquired what is probably a top 3 lightweight jacket I’ve ever owned, though I’ll tell you right now a) it wasn’t easy to come by and b) it wasn’t cheap.
As for point A, the reason it wasn’t easy to come by is simply because it’s basically sold out everywhere, from Canoe Club to SSENSE and everything in between. But thanks to the help of a proxy service, I managed to get mine shipped in (insanely fast, I might add) direct from Japan and have been wearing it every day since. In regards to point b, well, the simple reality of this particular, and if I may say so myself, near-perfect jacket is that it clocks in at nearly $800. There’s not much I can do about that, but what I have gone ahead and done is listed out 8 great alternatives below, including 2 examples of the original jacket that I’m pretty sure the $800 version is based on.
