Fall 2024 Style Guide: 42 Items Worth Investing In Right Now
Not trends—just 10 style categories I’ve got my eye on with multiple options for each.
Can you feel it? The earlier sunsets, the crispness of the morning air, and the encroaching presence of pumpkin spice? Well, maybe not (it was hot as hell in NYC this week), but my point is, whether you like it or not, fall is coming. The bad news is your poolside time may soon be coming to an end, but the excellent news is that the single greatest time to be a fan of wearing clothes is about to be upon us.
Autumn is when those of us who treat our little outfits with all the seriousness of an Olympic qualifier can, as the proverb (read: meme) says, really start dressing. It’s when layers, textures, and accessories all return with great ceremony, and jackets can be worn without people looking at you like you’ve lost your marbles. And since right now is basically a month before the weather really starts to change in earnest, the products that will be soon get worn are rapidly arriving at retailers this very moment. The time to cop is NOW.
But since so much quality gear is currently landing at stores, below I’ve laser-focused my own shopping list to the 10 essential categories I’ve got my eye on this season. None of these things are ”trends,” so to speak—I’m not super concerned with whatever gear the algorithm is pushing these days, though to be clear I am by no means impervious to it. (See: the very baggy shorts I’ve been wearing all summer, the amount of cropped things I’ve worn this year in general, etc.) All I mean to say is I’m not writing this as a way to identify what’s going to be “in” or “out” for Fall-Winter 2024—I’m simply laying out 10 categories of items I think are worth buying into right now and you’ll hopefully wear a ton over the next 6+ months.
