The 18 Best Summer Style Items I've Added To My Wardrobe
Breaking down the pieces that I'm actually wearing right now to beat the heat while looking my best.
It’s June 21, so with summer now officially here (in case the hot as all hell weather in the Northeast this week wasn’t evidence enough), I’m breaking down the 18 items that I’ve been wearing the most this season and, naturally, think you might like also. Summer is often regarded as the most difficult season to dress for, but I, a noted glass half full kind of guy, choose to view it more as an opportunity to put together great fits with less. That said, below you’ll find breakdowns of everything from shirts to swim trunks and even suits that may be able to help you to, if not beat the heat, at least put up a decent enough fight while still looking your best. Enjoy!

NN07 Freddy Lightweight Shirt, $190
We are living in some all-time great times for striped button-up shirts. There are lightweight poplin classics from Alex Mill, ginormous iterations by the boatload from Mfpen, and so many others to choose from like this, this, and this. But this one from NN07 for me hits the sweet spot of all of the above. For starters, the fit is easy but not baggy, making it great to wear open over a tee without feeling like you’re in a cape, or tucked into some trousers for a more cleaned-up look. It it comes in three different striped versions (all of them good), and are done up in a lightweight cotton that still has a little bit of structure, which means you could easily wear it with a tie. The price is premium but not anywhere close to outlandish, and, perhaps best of al, the stripes are stitched on for just a bit of added texture. It’s exactly the kind of detail I love—meaning one that no one but will really notice but will make you appreciate the shirt more every time you wear it.
